Hot Cocoa Mix [Keto, Low-carb, Sugar-free, Gluten-Free]
Homemade (Sugar free!) Hot Cocoa Mix
Keto | Sugar-free | Gluten-Free | Vegetarian
I can’t think of anything as comforting as a warm mug of cocoa in the winter time. But it’s time we had a better option than the stuff off the shelf. We can do hot cocoa right! So why not make it ourself - sugar free and guilt free!
All you need for this recipe is a food processor. You can make it in bulk, and it’ll last all winter. Make it when you want a healthier option for you kids, and they won’t even know it’s sugar free - it tastes just like the real thing. This also makes an adorable gift idea. Make the mix, package it into cute jars, tie the jars with bow and a little note, and you got yourself one fantastic gift. No matter what you do with this recipe, I promise you won’t regret it. It’s a warm hug in a mug! (HA!)

INGREDIENTS:
Serving Size: Makes 1 Large Jar
10 oz - Sugar-free Milk Chocolate Chips (or bars chopped up)
1/2 cup - Swerve Confectioners Sugar Replacement
1/2 cup - Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1/4 tsp - Sea Salt
Optional Flavor Add-ons:
Peppermint Hot Chocolate: Add sugar-free candy canes or peppermint candy
Mexican Hot Chocolate: Add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
Mocha: Add 1/4 cup - Instant Espresso powder
DIRECTIONS:
Using a food processor (not a blender), add the chocolate chips. Blend on high speed for at least 2 full minutes, or until the chocolate has turned into a sandy and powdery texture.
Leaving the chocolate in the blender, add in the rest of the ingredients. Note: if you are adding any flavor enhancers (see options in ingredient list above), add those to the processor as well.
Blend the ingredients on high for another 1 to 2 minutes, or until the cocoa mix is fully pulverized and homogenous.
Pour the mixture into jars, and store it in your pantry.
To make hot cocoa: warm up 6 oz of whole milk (or half and half for an extra creamy cocoa), until its just below boiling. I do this in the microwave for about 90 seconds.
Stir in about 2 TBSP of the cocoa mixture, depending on how strong you like it. Whisk/stir it very well to ensure it’s fully melted into the milk.
Serve with marshmallows (optional, but recommended). And enjoy!
