After seeing this on the internet, I just HAD to try it! Sometimes we just need food to make us smile, and this is it!
RECIPE CREDIT: https://soflofooodie.com/ Thank you SoFlo Fooodie for inspiring me to “ketofy” this recipe!
Servings: Makes 6 individual fried donuts
INGREDIENTS:
16 oz - Mozzarella (in the block)
2 - Eggs
1 cup - Avocado Oil for frying
Clean Keto “Flamin’ Hot” Breading:
1 cup - Spicy pork crumbs
1 tsp - Chili Powder or Chipotle Powder
1/4 cup - Cheddar Cheese Powder or Grated Parmesan
2 Tbsp - Paprika
2 tsp - Sea Salt
1 tsp - Red Food Dye (Optional)
NOTES:
You can absolutely make these in any shape you’d like, just use whatever silicon mold you have on hand.
Can’t find pork crumbs? You can also use the Slim Jim Pork Rinds Squealin' Hot, and pulse them in the food processor. Just note, those pork rinds do not have the most “clean” ingredients (but very tasty). I usually find them at Walmart.
You don’t need to make these spicy at all! Just use plain pork crumbs and season with a little salt and italian seasoning for a mild twist.
DIRECTIONS:
Melt the mozzarella in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, until it’s just melted - don’t over cook it.
Using a silicon donut mold, stuff the mozzarella into the donut shapes. Then place the mold in the freezer to cool and set the mozz - this took mine 20 minutes roughly.
Meanwhile, in a food processor, pulse together all of the “flamin hot” ingredients, just until combined. Pour into a bowl. And beat the eggs in another bowl.
Remove the cheese from the freezer, dip them in the egg, then the breading until coated, shaking off any extra breading.
Bring frying oil up to 350 F, and fry the donuts for about 30 seconds on each side, setting each one aside on a plate as they finish. I recommend doing them one-at-a-time. Also make sure your oil doesn’t go above 350F, to prevent burning.
Eat while hot, fresh, and gooey ;)
